Written in autobiographical form, A Natural History of Dragons is a series written beautifully by Marie Brennan. The series follows Lady Trent, a dragon naturalist, from girlhood to motherhood and all of her achievements in between. The world is well structured and believable. Having never read a biography before the writing style threw me for the first several pages. This was overcome quickly as I was absorbed in the story.
We follow not only Lady Trent in this series but the foundation and progress of a new field of study, dragons. You delight in discoveries and ponder the possibilities of each new adventure. Each book follows a new expedition made in the name of science.
